Vintage Las Vegas

Long gone are most of the show rooms that saw some of the greatest entertainers of our time. However, not all of classic Las Vegas has been lost. There are still some areas that retain the old school Las Vegas glamour of the past. Certains parts of downtown Las Vegas are being retro-fitted back to the Las Vegas of the past, complete with retro neon signage. A few of the original casinos are still standing, although all of them have been remodeled at least once. What I really miss are the deals! The days of $5 prime rib are mostly over....unless you know where to look!

There are several local sites that are dedicated to preserving the memories and sites of old Vegas. If you are looking for pictures of the old show rooms and casinos, check out

There are quite a few websites dedicated to preserving the history of Las Vegas or at least a piece of it. I found this site that collects old Las Vegas matchbooks. Flickr has some great photo sets. One of my favorites are these old menus from the 60's:

Don The Beachcomber - Sahara Hotel - 1960 Don The Beachcomber - Sahara Hotel - 1960 Don The Beachcomber - Sahara Hotel - 1960 Don The Beachcomber - Sahara Hotel - 1960 Follies Bergere -Tropicana Hotel - 1963 Follies Bergere -Tropicana Hotel - 1963 Follies Bergere -Tropicana Hotel - 1963 Congo Room - Sahara Hotel - 1960 Congo Room - Sahara Hotel - 1960 Congo Room - Sahara Hotel - 1960 Congo Room - Sahara Hotel - 1960 House of Lords Steak House- Sahara Hotel - 1960s Theater Restaurant - Tropicana Hotel - 1963 Theater Restaurant - Tropicana Hotel - 1963 Theater Restaurant - Tropicana Hotel - 1963

If I had to pick one site, I would have to say classic Las Vegas.com is probably the most comprehensive. They have a lot of great stuff about old Vegas.

Vintage Las Vegas Videos

A great tribute to Stardust courtesy of LeavingLV.net

Looking for vintage Vegas? There are still plenty of place dedicated to the glory days of Las Vegas. This video was made a few years ago, right before the Stardust was imploded.
